Jonathan Stevens and Cheryl Maffei
“I’m interested in bread that has been around long enough to develop personality and a depth of flavor—bread that gets to know itself before it gets to know your mouth. This bread is not precious. It is just wholesome food, the same stuff made for centuries by barefoot people who never even washed their hands.” – Jonathan Stevens
“We are in the midst of making renovations here and I have been reviewing our first seven years—on all different levels. I never expected to be an entrepreneur, a business owner. I never thought it would be possible to earn a living doing something that I love.” – Cheryl Maffei
Jonathan Stevens and Cheryl Maffei retired in 2025 and sold Hungry Ghost Bread to Sam Coates-Finke and Ana Maria Valle Bendezu who plan to open the shop up under a new name.
