Memories

Mike Chrisman: Some ten years ago I’m walking near Café No Sé in Antigua, Guatemala, where I live, and I hear a guy shout out my name. It’s Al, visiting for the second or third time. We had some drinks and reminiscing about the Valley. And in 2021 I visited him in Tepotzlán, Mexico, where he’d been for a bunch of years. He whipped up a memorable beef stew. Was still smoking, too.

Joe Lada: Met Al when he was 17 taking on the politicians at the State House in Boston. Impressed. Last saw in Guatemala. Great guy!

Martin Carrera: Al, What a guy and amazing reporter he brought light to Mexico of things some in Mexico even today want to keep in the Dark.
