Barbara E Smith: I loved his Pleasant st theatre. When I had a bad back and couldn’t sit comfortably, they had an up front spot where I could kind of lie down.

Oonagh Doherty: He moved to France, right? Then he returned to Northampton as an old man and lived at the long term care home on South Street.

Karen J Andrade: Richard was my friend and my boss when I was manager of the Pleasant St Theatre and when he and Dana Gentes established Pleasant St Video. I was very close to his wife, another Karen, and her passing so young was such a shock. I got my Masters in historical costume and vintage film because of Richard’s influence and mentoring and I owe him everything for that trajectory in my life. He will always be a father figure, mentor and most special person to me.
