Memories

Eileen Almeida: He did That radio commercial for the furniture store in Erving…. Fernando……you look Marvelous…

Martin Carrera: Damm Leo you died and didn’t finish telling the joke. I smile when I think of him and Buddy together.

Jack Davey: Leo was hilarious. My favorite Fernando line was “It’s better to look good than to feel good!”

Mike Chrisman: The last comedy gig I ever did was with Leo and a handful of other Valley comics, traveling in Nancy Girard’s van… I went to Western Massachusetts Hospital to visit Leo near the end of his life. He somewhat remembered me, but he fully remembered the lyrics to his song “The Cops Are Beating on the People in the Streets Tonight.” The nurses told me he often walked the hallway singing his own songs. Anyone who ever saw Leo’s bit “The Bottomless Bottle of Beer” will still have abs aching from laughter.

Ellen Debruyn: I still watch “Jumanji” and wait to see him in my favorite role (besides the 10 minutes he did onstage as a warm up to my wedding) Leo walking out of a “XXX ADULT” store, brown bag under his arm, as Robin Williams walks down the street in Keene. His stories of his movie extra roles, so funny.

Karen J Andrade: I remember so many times Leo was the opening act at the Iron Horse for comedians like Judy Tenuda and Emo Phillips and was so much funnier than the main act.
